Don’t forget to attend Doctors & Derrieres this year!

The 7th annual Doctors and Derrieres exhibition and silent auction will take place on April 27th from 7 – 11pm at Enterprise Square, 10230 – Jasper Ave, Edmonton, Alberta. This year the exhibit will feature over 35 local artists! The full exhibit runs from April 19 – 27th.

A bit about Doctors & Derrieres:
Doctors and Derrieres is a fundraising event co-founded in 2006 by Edmonton based artist and show curator Roger Garcia. The idea behind this fundraiser is to have medical students pose nude for talented local artists and sculptors. Art pieces in diverse mediums celebrating the human body are then donated by each artist to be sold at the main event each year to raise funds for an emergency health Project in El Salvador. All proceeds support Change for Children’s Emergency Social Health Fund. A community-led grassroots initiative in rural El Salvador that provides health care in underserved areas. Over the past 6 years, the event has raised over $50,000. Doctors and Derrieres is hosted by Roger Garcia and University of Alberta medical students in partnership with Change for Children Association and Christian Based Communities of El Salvador (CEB’S) with donated support from the Harcourt House.

We realized we never really shared pictures last fall of our new studio that we moved into a couple months ago.

Our studio is bright butter yellow, the perfect colour for optimism. We wish you sunshine and happiness for 2012!

We are in the process of renovating and preparing for the big move. Most of the stuff we’re going to move over will be reclaimed or used/vintage furniture from the house or kijiji. If you know where we could find the following items, shoot us an email?

- Two vintage wood desks
- Small vintage table with drawers (for the front door)
- Reclaimed wood
- Any cool shelving
- Two office chairs (look nice, but ergonomic as K & I are both dealing with neck & back tension these days)

Festival season in Edmonton has begun! We work with lots of arts and festival organizations around town and I’m going to feature a few events here and there. First up is Edmonton PRIDE. The poster just printed yesterday and they let us go crazy with the creative

Our studio had a new print promo/brochure piece! It features Kayt (the studio greyhound) and her stats from her romantic past as a racing hound.

Think Santa’s little helper but rather, she placed in 1st 10 times rather than being shooed away from the track into the arms of Homer Simpson.

Anyhow, we love having her around. To the point that we create an entire promotional piece around her history and involvement in the studio.

Fall is officially here and we couldn’t be happier. Sweaters, hot cocoa, the smell of leaves and apples in the neighbourhood…

Another plus for Fall is the new urge for knitting cozy things. Especially outfits for Kayt.

If anyone has a colour suggestion for a knitted dog coat, please leave a comment!

We will collect the names and do a random draw for a nice package of woodward design treats. This package will include a typographical recipe book, morton the magician book (more on this project soon!) and an illustrated ladies top that we created for limebaby a few years back.
