We took Kayt for a walk over lunch and the sun beams were amazing to drink in. The snow is melting. The people of Edmonton are starting to smile again…

Gray & Gold – In interiors. I wonder if this combo will translate over to design? via Colourlovers

Honeysuckle, in Fashion. Pantone voted this reddish pink hue as the colour of the year. via Refinery

All of these colours together make me want to puke a little. Maybe in combo’s of two or three groupings it will be okay.

Winter is in full swing here in Edmonton. Every year I fall in love again with the colour palettes that come with the season. Muted whites, blues, grays… yellow wild grass against white white snow. Everything is soft, subtle, and quiet. I’ve posted a few lovely wintery photos. Happy weekend!

Mad Men in Colour

I dream a little about designing costumes for Mad Men, just like Janie Bryant. What a dream job.

More in our line of work, though…Dyna Moe has done some great illustrations and scenes from Mad Men,. The colour palettes are wonderfully vintage, too. Visit the Colour Lover’s article exploring her work and the colours used!

colour theory & kvadrat

I am teaching a colour theory class this term and its been wonderful to immerse myself in various types of colour inspiration! I’ve decided to add a new category on our blog so I can share some of my findings.

The pieces above are called ‘Clouds’ for Kvadrat by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.

“‘Clouds’ is a colorful concept that evolves as you add elements to it, producing a three-dimensional effect, coating architecture in a fluid yet chaotic way.”

I love that they are these abstract shapes you can assemble and experiment with different colours. Simply beautiful. Found on the colourlovers website.
