Save handmade toys!

Both Andrea and Hillary have chatted on their blogs about saving handmade toys in the US. Scary to think that small business owners making good quality softies/toys could possibly be shut down because of the legislation set to go through. This means no more toys on etsy. Even Uncle Jo can’t sell his wooden carved toys without very expensive testing.
Anyone know if this sort of issue exists in Canada?

The news report I watched said that wood and cotton toys (which cannot possibly contain lead) are exempt from the legislation.
